Infertility which made it difficult to get a descent, is a matter which is currently more common in young couples. People often accuse the woman as a cause of infertility that occurs, when a man has an equal chance of infertility.

Infertility is the inability of couples to get pregnant after having sexual intercourse regularly for 1-2 years. Experts reveal that when couples experiencing infertility, then the third is caused by women, one-third are caused by men and one third can be caused by both. Therefore, both women and men should be willing to check their fertility problems together.

Lifestyle and environmental factors suspected to trigger the majority of cases of infertility in men today. Both of these factors greatly affect the male reproductive function or sperm, such as diet, obesity, air pollution (exposure to toxic substances), drinking alcohol and smoking, a job that requires sitting for hours and intersect with high radiation, as well as a laptop habits .

Genetic factors, age, hormonal disorders, reproductive disorders, infectious diseases and other diseases are the cause of infertility in men. Knowing the cause of infertility in men is very necessary to quickly overcome difficult conditions to get offspring. Infertility does not cause death, but do not go get a descent could be a 'storm' in the family.

The cause of infertility can be known initially through medical history (anamnesis) and physical examination by a doctor, followed by laboratory examination. Laboratory tests are an important part to determine the possibility of causing interference to any male reproductive process. Laboratory tests are generally performed are:

1. Analysis of sperm

Pregnancy occurs because of a meeting between ovum and sperm. Therefore, examination of sperm is the main part that should be run. In sperm analysis, there are three things that examined to evaluate male fertility is the number, quality of movement and shape of the sperm.

To perform the analysis of sperm required special preparation beforehand, which should not ejaculate, either through sexual activity, mastubarsi or sperm expenditure during the dream within 2-7 days prior to the examination, because it will affect the quantity (amount) and quality of sperm.

2. Urinalysis

Complete post-ejaculatory urine test done to support the allegations of retrograde ejaculation, which is a condition in which a disparity in channel release of sperm, resulting in sperm did not come out as it should, but in and out through the urinary tract.

3. folicle - stimulating hormone (FSH)

Folicle - stimulating hormone (FSH) is produced by the pituitary gland, grape-sized organ found at the base of the brain. In men, FSH stimulates the testes to produce mature sperm. FSH levels are relatively constant after adolescence or puberty.

FSH examination is often performed in conjunction with other hormones examination ie luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone, for the evaluation of male infertility. Measurement of FSH levels are useful to determine the cause of low sperm count in men.

4. luteinizing hormone (LH)

Same as FSH, luteinizing hormone (LH) is also produced by the pituitary gland and the levels are relatively constant after adolescence or puberty. LH in men will stimulate certain cell types (Leydig cells) in the testes to produce testosterone.

Measurement of LH levels along with other hormone assays useful for the diagnosis of pituitary disease or related diseases testes.

5. Free Testosterone Index (FTI)

Free testosterone index (FTI) is the recommended screening to assess androgen status. FTI consists of total testosterone assays and Sex Hormone Binding Globuline (SHBG).

6. Prolactin

Prolactin is a hormone produced by the front of the pituitary gland. Normally, prolactin present in small amounts in men and non-pregnant women. Prolactin has a major role in the process of lactation (breast milk production). Prolactin examination together with other hormone assays can be used to help diagnose infertility and erectile dysfunction in men. Increased levels of prolactin in men can cause a decrease in libido and sexual function gradually.

Prolactin levels vary within a 24 hour period, rising during sleep and reached a peak in the morning. Ideally, blood samples for examination of prolactin should be taken as soon as you wake up in the morning and rest quietly for 30 minutes before, or according to the instructions a doctor.

7. Sperm Antibodies

One factor infertility caused by man is the formation of antibodies against sperm. Antibodies to sperm is an autoimmune phenomenon, because the immune system to produce antibodies against the body's own antigens, that is sperm. These antibodies can be found in the blood, seminal plasma and sperm bound to the surface in some men with testicular diseases and autoimmune diseases spermatogenesis.
